At the beginning of the new year, on behalf of the magnesium Branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, I would like to extend New year's greetings and best wishes to all colleagues in the magnesium industry and friends from all walks of life who care about and support the development of China's magnesium industry.

A hundred years of towering years, the land of China ushered in the centenary of the Communist Party of China in 2021.

In this year, the magnesium industry thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the sixth Plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on July 1, solidly carried out the study and education of party history, never forgot the original ideals and aspirations, and forged ahead.

Looking back on 2021, driven by the sharp increase in the price of raw and auxiliary materials such as coal and ferrosilicon, as well as the concentrated delivery order replenishment behavior of foreign trade institutions, magnesium prices fluctuated sharply and thrilled, causing magnesium application enterprises to be on pins and needles, looking forward to the return of the quiet days of the past; original magnesium production enterprise responsibility, mission call, overcome many difficulties, try their best to ensure a stable price. With the support of governments and associations at all levels, the magnesium Industry Branch focuses on the long-term development of the magnesium industry, visits the government, walks the enterprises, organizes the drafting of low-grade gas and by-product clean carbon standards for magnesium smelting, and strives to protect the channels for magnesium slag consumption according to reason. actively strive to expand the application policy of magnesium, and try our best to expand the living space of the magnesium industry.

With the "great man of the country" in mind and focusing on green and low-carbon development, the magnesium Industry Branch and the Fugu County government have jointly set up a magnesium industry innovation research center to develop green smelting technology. powerful enterprises and university scientific research institutions strive to explore pre-furnace operation mechanization, automation and dust control technology, reduce the labor intensity of workers, and improve the working environment of workers.

Looking forward to the new year, there are many gratifying changes in the magnesium industry. Baosteel has made greater efforts to invest in the magnesium industry; the smelting technology may have great breakthroughs in greening and automation; and the application field of magnesium is also constantly expanding. However, the situation faced by the magnesium industry is still grim. The industrial policy in the main magnesium producing areas is unstable and uncertain, and the prices of raw and auxiliary materials fluctuate greatly, which leads to the great uncertainty of the original magnesium supply expectations, and the price remains high and fluctuates frequently. it has caused great harm to magnesium application enterprises, and some non-essential magnesium application enterprises have stopped production or sought other alternative materials to deal with it. We strongly appeal to all sectors of the community to make joint efforts to ensure the market supply and price stability of basic energy and raw materials. Only when the price of raw materials is stable, the price of end products will be stable! We strongly appeal to colleagues in the magnesium industry not to forget the original mission of expanding the application of magnesium, to actively contribute to the healthy and high-quality development of the magnesium industry, and to welcome the 20th CPC National Congress with outstanding achievements.
