Nikola releases hydrogen fuel cell vehicle lineup with a range of up to 1400 km

On Feb. 23, Nikola revealed details about its range of hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles, including some vehicles with a range of up to 900mph (1448 km).

The product line includes a (FCEV) version of the hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle of the Nikola truck series Tre Cabover, as well as the Nikola Two FCEV Sleeper, a long-distance freight vehicle developed for the North American market. The company's all-electric (BEV) version of the Tre currently has a range of up to 300km.

Production of the first Tre FCEV prototype will begin in the second quarter of this year, and testing and verification will continue until 2022, Nikola said. The company added that it plans to officially start production of the model in the second half of 2023. The company says, Tre FCEV Cabover aims to drive up to 500km, while Sleeper can achieve uninterrupted mileage of up to 900miles (1448 km).

In December, the company announced that it had ended its partnership with Republic Services after Nikola helped the recycling and disposal company develop electric garbage trucks. Nikola said the two companies agreed to cancel the partnership after finding that it would take more time and cost to build electric trucks with new technologies and design concepts than originally expected. "given the resources and investment required, canceling the partnership is the right decision for both companies," Nikola CEO Mark Russell said in a written statement.
