Hyundai's production capacity of hydrogen fuel trucks will be increased to 2000 in 2021

SMM: it is reported that Hyundai plans to increase its hydrogen fuel truck production capacity to 2000 by 2021 and overseas sales of more than 60000 trucks by 2030 in order to develop cleaner heavy transport vehicles.

Hyundai announced the plan at (Lucerne) in Lucerne, Switzerland, on October 8th. This is where the company delivers the world's first hydrogen trucks to local customers.

Hyundai delivered seven Xcient fuel cell trucks to logistics companies such as Travego, Galiker and Camion, with the remaining three due to be delivered by the end of this month. The company will sell 40 hydrogen trucks to Switzerland by the end of the year.

Earlier, Hyundai received orders from Swiss customers to supply 1600 10-ton hydrogen fuel trucks by 2025. By 2030, the company expects to deliver a total of 25000 hydrogen trucks to Europe, mainly in Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and Austria.

For the North American market, Hyundai aims to sell 12000 hydrogen trucks by 2030 and has begun to strengthen cooperation with local logistics companies and conduct commercial research. For the Chinese market, the company is seeking to sell 27000 trucks by 2030, in line with China's goal of putting 1 million fuel-cell vehicles on the road in the same year. Hyundai is also considering producing hydrogen-fueled trucks directly at its Chinese plants as early as 2023.

At present, Hyundai is developing a long-range heavy hydrogen fuel truck with a range of more than 1000 kilometers on a single charge. The Xcient currently has a maximum horsepower of 476hp, with a range of 400km on a single charge.

In Switzerland, Hyundai has introduced a pay-per-view system for truck consumers and partnered with Swiss companies to support its expansion plans in the burgeoning hydrogen energy industry. The Swiss government has promised to install 100 hydrogen charging stations across the country.
