Spot TCs for imported copper concentrate stabilized last week. As of July 28, SMM TCs offers for spot copper ore were $80-85 per tonne, SMM data showed.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 31 (SMM) - Spot TCs for imported copper concentrate stabilized last week. As of July 28, SMM TCs offers for spot copper ore were $80-85 per tonne, SMM data showed.

Copper Inventories in Shanghai Bonded Zone Decline This Week, SMM Reports 

Trading remained quiet in imported copper concentrate market last week, SMM noted.

Codelco Lowers Copper Output Estimation for Q2

Copper smelters may step up production after maintenance, and are expected to replenish raw material stocks. Besides, strikes at overseas mines and the unforeseen may have effect on future copper concentrate supply. These factors may affect spot TCs in the near term, SMM said.

[Wire and Cable Exports] According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, China's wire and cable exports in April 2026 were 265,000 mt, up 21.56% MoM but pulling back slightly by 1.5% YoY. Cumulative wire and cable exports in 2026 reached 987,000 mt, up 7.81% YoY. Among them, copper wire and cable exports were 130,500 mt, up 10.21% MoM but pulling back slightly by 3.85% YoY. [Wire and Cable Imports] According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, China's wire and cable imports in April 2026 were 12,000 mt, up 2.56% MoM and down 0.22% YoY. Cumulative wire and cable imports in 2026 were 43,000 mt, down 4.03% YoY on a cumulative basis. Among them, copper wire and cable imports were 3,900 mt, up 22.81% MoM and up 21.11% YoY. Cumulative copper wire and cable imports in 2026 were 12,000 mt, up 8.97% YoY on a cumulative basis. [Wire and Cable Exports by Country] According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, wire and cable exports showed a growth trend in April 2026. By country, the US surged to the top position among wire and cable export destinations with exports up 48.77% MoM to 20,000 mt; Vietnam ranked second with exports up 4.56% MoM to 16,000 mt; and Australia ranked third with exports up 11.88% MoM to 14,000 mt. The three countries combined accounted for nearly 20% of total wire and cable exports.
