【Xiaomi 18 Fold Launch Sales Up ~300% YoY, First-Week Activations Remain Elevated】Xiaomi Group disclosed that the new Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable smartphone significantly outperformed its predecessor at launch, with first-sale volumes up approximately 300% compared to the previous large-fold model. First-day sales reached approximately 36,000 units, with daily sales holding above 8,000 units over the following six days and first-week activations totaling approximately 80,000 units. The device starts at approximately CNY 12,000 and debuts with Xiaomi's in-house Xuanjie O3 chip.

[Solid-state: Sichuan University unveils ultra-high-nickel all-solid-state battery breakthroughs]

Sichuan University released two core breakthroughs on Sep 20: an ultra-high-nickel cathode with 0.1C discharge specific capacity exceeding 240mAh/g, above the current market best, and a solid-state battery with energy density over 400Wh/kg and cycle life above 800 cycles. A joint lab for full-lifecycle testing and standardization was also inaugurated with Sichuan provincial and Meishan SOE partners. A 300-ton ultra-high-nickel cathode line and a 0.1GWh solid-state demo line will start construction in Meishan soon, with site selection done and equipment procurement underway.
