India added a record 27 GW of PV capacity in H1

According to the India Solar Market Update Q2 & H1 2026 report released by Mercom India Research, India added 27 GW of PV capacity in H1 2026, up 50% YoY from 18 GW in H1 2025, setting a new record. PV accounted for 76% of the 36 GW of power capacity added during this period.

On August 26, the Beijing Public Resources Trading Service Center published two notices for the listing and transfer of state-owned equity. China Southern Power Grid Integrated Energy Co., Ltd. (China Southern Power Grid Energy) plans to transfer 100% equity in two PV project companies under its ownership. The transfer involves two wholly owned PV enterprises: Nandian (Chengmai) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Shizong Shangfu Yihe Solar Investment Co., Ltd.

The world's first offshore energy island is here!

Recently, the foundation works for the world's first artificial energy island, Princess Elisabeth Island, were completed. According to inquiries, the project owner is the Belgian transmission system operator Elia Transmission Belgium, and the construction is undertaken by the TM Edison consortium, which consists of two Belgian offshore engineering giants, DEME and Jan De Nul. Princess Elisabeth Island covers an area of about 6 hectares and will collect the export cables from the wind farms in Belgium's second offshore wind zone, the Princess Elisabeth Zone (with a planned capacity of up to 3.5GW). In the future, it can also serve as a landing point for interconnections with the UK (Nautilus project) and Denmark (TritonLink project), becoming the first piece of Europe's offshore hybrid interconnector grid. Under the Ostend Declaration, North Sea countries will jointly build 300GW of offshore wind power by 2050, and Belgium is a key driver.
