World's Highest-Altitude 660 MW Ultra-Supercritical Thermal Power Unit with High-Ratio High-Alkali Coal Co-Firing

At 18:00 on August 25, the No. 3 unit of SPIC Qinghai Provincial Investment's 3×660 MW "replacing small units with large ones" thermal power project successfully passed the 168-hour full-load trial operation, marking the full-capacity operation of the world's highest-altitude 660 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power unit with high-ratio high-alkali coal co-firing. After the project reaches full-capacity operation, its total installed capacity will reach 1,980 MW, with an average annual stable power generation of more than 8 billion kWh, fully covering the electricity demand of the entire Qinghai Province.

Recently, the foundation works for the world's first artificial energy island, Princess Elisabeth Island, were completed. According to inquiries, the project owner is the Belgian transmission system operator Elia Transmission Belgium, and the construction is undertaken by the TM Edison consortium, which consists of two Belgian offshore engineering giants, DEME and Jan De Nul. Princess Elisabeth Island covers an area of about 6 hectares and will collect the export cables from the wind farms in Belgium's second offshore wind zone, the Princess Elisabeth Zone (with a planned capacity of up to 3.5GW). In the future, it can also serve as a landing point for interconnections with the UK (Nautilus project) and Denmark (TritonLink project), becoming the first piece of Europe's offshore hybrid interconnector grid. Under the Ostend Declaration, North Sea countries will jointly build 300GW of offshore wind power by 2050, and Belgium is a key driver.
