At its August 20, 2026 weekly agenda meeting, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) considered an addendum to the 80 MW Cottage Grove Battery Energy Storage System project proposed by LSP CG Storage, LLC, and the issuance of a draft site permit. The project represents a significant utility-scale storage development in the Upper Midwest, where grid operators are increasingly relying on batteries to manage renewable integration and peak demand. Minnesota's storage market has been gaining momentum as the state implements its renewable energy standard and explores storage-specific procurement mechanisms.
