[Jingye Huaxi Special Steel Q420NC Steel Plate Successfully Rolled]

Published: Aug 26, 2026 15:41

Recently, the wide and heavy plate plant of Jingye Huaxi Special Steel announced the successful rolling of Q420NC low-alloy high-strength structural steel. Four mother plates with specifications of 35mm×2500mm×22000mm were successfully produced, marking a solid step forward for Huaxi Special Steel in the field of high-strength structural steel. Q420NC is a low-alloy high-strength structural steel that complies with national standard GB/T 1591-2018. It adopts a normalizing rolling process, and compared with ordinary Q355-series steel, its strength grade is increased by 20%, meeting more stringent structural load requirements.

In terms of mechanical properties, the yield strength of Q420NC steel plate is not less than 420MPa (when thickness ≤ 16mm), the tensile strength ranges from 520 to 680MPa, and the elongation is ≥19%. The normalizing rolling process results in a fine and uniform ferrite + pearlite microstructure, which significantly improves grain size, mechanical property uniformity, and low-temperature toughness compared to ordinary hot rolling, while also enhancing dimensional stability and resistance to lamellar tearing of the steel plate. With high strength, excellent toughness, and good weldability, Q420NC has broad application prospects in various fields. In the construction structure sector, it can be used for key load-bearing components of large bridges and high-rise buildings. In the engineering machinery field, it is widely applied in manufacturing critical components such as booms, frames, and chassis of heavy equipment like cranes, excavators, and loaders.
