[Latest Data from the General Administration of Customs] In July 2026, China's wire and cable exports were 277,500 mt, down 7.43% MoM and up 6.62% YoY; cumulative exports from January to July 2026 were 1.8464 million mt, up 9.26% YoY on a cumulative basis. Among them, copper wire and cable exports were 133,100 mt, down 10.67% MoM and up 8.51% YoY; cumulative exports from January to July 2026 were 915,800 mt, up 15.44% YoY on a cumulative basis.

Demand across markets outside China generally declined. Australia remained the top export destination, with exports up 20.94% MoM; followed by the Philippines and Vietnam, which saw MoM declines of 28.92% and 26.46%, respectively, ranking second and third among export destinations. The combined exports of these three countries accounted for 19.53% of total copper wire and cable exports. Affected by the onset of the demand off-season in the Northern Hemisphere, demand in all countries fell sharply.

From the perspective of export provinces, China's copper wire and cable remain mainly concentrated in the coastal areas of east China and south China. Among them, Jiangsu Province still led the country with exports of 34,000 mt, followed by Zhejiang Province (20,000 mt) and Guangdong Province (19,400 mt) in second and third places. The combined exports of these three provinces accounted for nearly 60% of the national total, and the regional export pattern remained stable.

Overall, July cable exports pulled back significantly. On one hand, July coincided with the traditional consumption off-season in the Northern Hemisphere, leading to weak end-user demand outside China and shrinking new orders. On the other hand, the narrowing price spread between Chinese and overseas markets compressed export profit margins, further dampening enterprises' willingness to take orders. Looking ahead to August, rigid demand from PV and wind power stations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East remains, coupled with the dense implementation of power grid infrastructure tenders and the structural support from AI computing power demand outside China for high-end cable exports. It is expected to maintain positive YoY growth. However, August remains in the consumption off-season, so a significant MoM rebound is not expected.
