EcoPro BM announced on August 24 that it is converting its existing nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA) cathode materials line at its Hungary plant into a mixed production line capable of producing nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) products as well.
The conversion is intended to support the supply of high-nickel cathode materials for premium electric vehicles in Europe from the fourth quarter of next year. The line modification is expected to require about KRW 40 billion in investment.
EcoPro BM’s Hungary plant, which began commercial operations in the first half of this year, has an annual production capacity of 54,000 mt, enough to supply batteries for around 600,000 electric vehicles.
