Iraqi President Discusses Reassessment of Iraq-Iran Relations and Weapons Control Dialogue

Iraqi President Amidi stated that Iraq had previously communicated with the visiting Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Kalibaf, and conveyed to the Iranian side a message regarding the reassessment of Iraq-Iran relations. Amidi also noted that some ships carrying Iraqi oil have been permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Amidi emphasized that the Iraqi government must engage in dialogue with militia groups to achieve mutual understanding and resolve the issue of weapons control through a plan that serves the interests of the Iraqi nation and state. He added that Iran has not requested Iraq to delay its national weapons control process.
