Overall, in July 2026, China’s copper foil imports and exports both pulled back MoM.On the import side, China’s capacity continued to ramp up, the domestic substitution rate for low and mid-end specifications was already at a high level, import dependence edged down at the margin, and imports continued to contract. The pullback in exports was, on the one hand, due to strong demand from China’s lithium battery and AI computing power sectors, which marginally narrowed the surplus supply available for export; on the other hand, as July was the off-season for consumption in the Northern Hemisphere, the procurement pace for downstream electronics manufacturing and battery assembly in major export destinations such as Southeast Asia slowed down. However, YoY growth remained steady, and the strong momentum is expected to continue in August.
