SMM August 20 news:
This week, the China graphitisation tolling services market remained in a sideways trend overall, with limited room for price fluctuations among enterprises, and the price center changed relatively little. By process type, the average graphitisation processing price for Acheson furnace fluctuated between 9,000-10,500 yuan/mt, while the average price for box-type furnace operated in the range of 8,000-9,000 yuan/mt. On the demand side, due to the ongoing tightness in the in-house graphitisation capacity of some integrated enterprises, the external processing demand from anode producers continued to be released, providing positive support to the tolling market. On the supply side, as profits had been under pressure for an extended period, some independent graphitisation enterprises have yet to resume normal production, resulting in a slow rebound in the industry's overall operating rate, and effective processing capacity remained relatively tight. Notably, although demand showed certain resilience, upstream costs have not yet rebounded to previous highs, and the price rise still lacks sufficient cost momentum, leading to a somewhat stagnant performance in current tolling prices. Looking ahead, as the downstream production schedule continues to accelerate, the available balance in the tolling market is expected to gradually narrow. To ensure their own production capabilities operate normally, downstream clients may ease their pricing pressure on the tolling segment, and the judgment that graphitisation tolling prices will stabilize and strengthen remains unchanged.
