【SMM Analysis】July 2026: China's Artificial Graphite Exports Surge 18% MoM, Prices Up 1.6%

In July 2026, China's artificial graphite imports were 779 mt, down 22.2% MoM and up 22.8% YoY. For the average import price, in July 2026, China's artificial graphite average import price was 65,753 yuan/mt, up 10.3% MoM and down 21.2% YoY.
In July 2026, China's artificial graphite exports were 49,072 mt, up 18% MoM and up 1.9% YoY. For the average export price, in July 2026, China's artificial graphite average export price was 9,228 yuan/mt, up 1.6% MoM and up 11.7% YoY.
The export side presented a positive trend of both volume and price rising. Among them, the rise in the average export price was mainly driven by the pass-through of persistently high domestic production costs; the growth in export volume was a normal volume expansion as downstream enterprises stockpiled ahead of the traditional peak season in H2. From the shipment structure of major exporting provinces, the export performance of artificial graphite anode material for lithium batteries showed a clear divergence. Although the shipments of three major provinces experienced declines of varying degrees MoM, one particular province stood out, with its export volume up as much as three times MoM. Driven strongly by that province, the overall exports of major exporting provinces of artificial graphite anode material still achieved a MoM increase of 6%.
