India Approves 400 Tons of Silver Imports, Eases Supply Amid New Regulations and Logistics Challenges

Published: Aug 18, 2026 10:36
[SMM Precious Metal Express] India has approved around 400 tons of silver import licenses recently, with approximately 89.81 tons imported via the India International Bullion Exchange in August — the first imports in six months. The new regulations require formal government-issued certificates of origin, causing customs clearance delays. According to SMM research, some silver ingots from Hong Kong have also been shipped to India recently. Supply has improved from July, but logistics still add weeks, keeping inventories relatively tight.

Silver North Continued Advancing Drilling at the Haldane Project; Launched Field Exploration at the Veronica Project
Vancouver, August 13, 2026 – Silver North announced that drilling at its flagship Haldane silver mine project, located in the historic Keno Hill silver district in Yukon, continued to advance. To date, 10 drill holes have been completed for a total of approximately 2,550 meters. Drilling at the Main Fault is expanding the currently defined 100-meter strike length and 150-meter down-dip extent. Highlight results include hole HLD25-31, which returned 818 g/mt silver, 1.39 g/mt gold, 2.54% lead, and 0.98% zinc over 13.15 meters. Core from mineralized intersections in the first five holes has been sampled and sent to ALS Laboratories, and management expects to begin receiving assay results in September. The 2026 drilling plan is expected to continue through October. The primary objective of the 2026 work plan at the Veronica project is to expand an open-ended, multi-element soil geochemical anomaly area currently measuring 1.2 km × 1 km. Reconnaissance and mapping will also be completed within the anomaly area to further understand and expand the Lodge and Cooper mineralized showings—where mineralized float has returned grades of up to 2,860 g/mt silver, and one exposed northeast-trending fault has returned 33.2 g/mt silver.
