Silver North Continued Advancing Drilling at the Haldane Project; Launched Field Exploration at the Veronica Project

Published: Aug 18, 2026 09:44

Vancouver, August 13, 2026 – Silver North announced that drilling at its flagship Haldane silver mine project, located in the historic Keno Hill silver district in Yukon, continued to advance. To date, 10 drill holes have been completed for a total of approximately 2,550 meters.

Drilling at the Main Fault is expanding the currently defined 100-meter strike length and 150-meter down-dip extent. Highlight results include hole HLD25-31, which returned 818 g/mt silver, 1.39 g/mt gold, 2.54% lead, and 0.98% zinc over 13.15 meters. Core from mineralized intersections in the first five holes has been sampled and sent to ALS Laboratories, and management expects to begin receiving assay results in September. The 2026 drilling plan is expected to continue through October.

The primary objective of the 2026 work plan at the Veronica project is to expand an open-ended, multi-element soil geochemical anomaly area currently measuring 1.2 km × 1 km. Reconnaissance and mapping will also be completed within the anomaly area to further understand and expand the Lodge and Cooper mineralized showings—where mineralized float has returned grades of up to 2,860 g/mt silver, and one exposed northeast-trending fault has returned 33.2 g/mt silver.

US-China Competition on the Rise in DRC's Critical Minerals Sector
[SMM Flash] The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is becoming an increasingly important arena in the US-China competition for critical minerals, with the country holding significant resources of cobalt, copper, lithium, coltan, tantalum, tin, tungsten and other strategic commodities. China has built a strong position across the DRC's mining, processing and refining value chain, while the US is seeking to diversify supply through infrastructure investment, diplomacy and direct participation in mining assets. A key component of the US strategy is the Lobito Corridor, supported by a $553 million US Development Finance Corporation loan to rehabilitate about 1,300 km of railway linking the DRC to Angola's Atlantic port. The US-backed Orion Critical Mineral Consortium has also proposed acquiring a 40% stake in Glencore's Mutanda and Kamoto assets, with the transaction implying a combined enterprise value of about $9 billion and providing Orion rights to direct its share of production to nominated buyers. These moves could gradually diversify DRC mineral trade routes and customers, although China's established processing capacity and infrastructure footprint mean that a significant shift in the supply chain is unlikely to happen quickly.

Major Countries Reduce US Treasury Holdings; 30-Year Yield Hits 19-Year High
[SMM Precious Metal Express] China, the UK and Japan all reduced their US Treasury holdings in June, with overseas holdings down $72.1 billion month-on-month to approximately $9.3 trillion, including a $26.4 billion reduction by Japan. The 30-year US Treasury yield rose to 5.31%, the highest in 19 years, approaching the 5.44% peak seen during the early global financial crisis.

India Approves 400 Tons of Silver Imports, Eases Supply Amid New Regulations and Logistics Challenges
[SMM Precious Metal Express] India has approved around 400 tons of silver import licenses recently, with approximately 89.81 tons imported via the India International Bullion Exchange in August — the first imports in six months. The new regulations require formal government-issued certificates of origin, causing customs clearance delays. According to SMM research, some silver ingots from Hong Kong have also been shipped to India recently. Supply has improved from July, but logistics still add weeks, keeping inventories relatively tight.
