China's Passenger Vehicle Sales Drop in July, NEV Exports Surge

According to CPCA data, nationwide retail sales in China’s passenger vehicle market totaled 1.461 million units in July, down 20.9% YoY. By powertrain type, retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 951,000 units, down 3.9% YoY, with the penetration rate at 65.1%; retail sales of conventional internal combustion engine vehicles were 510,000 units, down 41% YoY. In addition, passenger NEV exports performed strongly in July, reaching 540,000 units, up 147.8% YoY.

Lam Dong Province Accelerates Bauxite-Aluminum Production, Marks Transition to Aluminum Metal Output

Foreign media reported on October 8 that Lam Dong Province in Vietnam is accelerating the expansion of its bauxite-aluminum production chain. In the first nine months of 2026, the province's alumina production is estimated to have reached approximately 1 million mt, up 1.7% YoY, with Q3 production at about 380,000 mt, up 9.3%. Notably, on July 26, the first aluminum ingot was successfully produced at the Nhan Co Industrial Park in Nhan Co Commune, Lam Dong Province, marking the local bauxite-aluminum value chain's official transition from alumina production to aluminum metal production. Q3 aluminum ingot production is estimated at 20,551 mt, of which September alone accounted for 14,540 mt.
