Off-Season Demand Remains Unchanged, Downstream Enterprises Maintain Cautious Procurement [SMM Lead-Acid Battery Market Weekly Review]

Published: Jul 31, 2026 17:12

This week, the lead-acid battery market continued its off-season trend. Coupled with persistently weakening lead prices, risk-aversion sentiment ran high in the industry. Dealers purchased only as needed and remained cautious about expectations for the traditional peak season in August. Producer side, lead-acid battery enterprises maintained production cuts. Even as lead prices kept falling, downstream enterprises did not engage in concentrated bargain-hunting to build inventories. Some large enterprises met their production needs solely through long-term contracts, and spot market transactions remained sluggish.

[Secondary Lead Production Update] A secondary lead smelter in southwest China had average refined lead output in July, with relatively low recycling volume of scrap batteries. In August, there is a possibility of maintenance-related production suspension. If production continues, it will maintain a similar output level. The final production schedule will be adjusted according to the lead price market trend.
