Vietnamese Lead Market Sees Rising Premiums Amid Strong Demand and Limited High-Grade Supply

[Vietnam Lead Market Update] It is understood that lead consumption in the Vietnamese market is robust, but the supply of high-grade lead ingots is limited, prompting some downstream enterprises to opt for other grades of lead ingots. Combined with the impact of recent exchange rate fluctuations, spot premiums for local lead ingots have risen again. Among them, lead ingot (Pb≥99.99%) CIF premiums were reported at $240/mt, and lead ingot (Pb 99.985%) CIF premiums were at $180/mt. According to the latest SMM quotes, Vietnam lead ingot (Pb 99.985%) CIF premiums were reported at $160-180/mt, up $17.5/mt from yesterday; Vietnam lead ingot (Pb 99.99%-99.995%) CIF premiums were at $200-240/mt, up $27.5/mt from yesterday.

[Malaysia Lead Market Dynamics] The supply of scrap lead raw materials in Malaysia remains persistently tight. Local secondary lead smelters said that due to insufficient raw material supply, the production of lead ingots has dropped again by about 20% recently, with current production maintained at only a quarter of normal levels. Meanwhile, spot premiums for secondary refined lead in Malaysia have further risen, with CIF premiums reported at $170-180/mt. According to the latest SMM quotation, the CIF premiums for Malaysian lead ingot (Pb 99.985%) are quoted at $155-180/mt, up $15/mt from yesterday.
