[SMM Battery-Grade Manganese Sulphate Weekly Review: Production Resumptions in Producing Areas Bring Supply and Demand Back to Normal, Market Consolidates Steadily] This week, domestic manganese sulphate prices stabilized overall and market conditions returned to stability. This week, manganese sulphate prices in China stabilized overall, with market conditions returning to stability.

Looking back at earlier market conditions, affected by flooding in the main production area of Guangxi, a number of manganese salt enterprises in the region underwent phased shutdowns for maintenance, leading to tighter short-term spot supply. Downstream customers urgently requested more replenishment orders, and producers' inclination to hold back from selling increased, driving manganese sulphate prices slightly higher.

Demand side, although precursor operating rates downstream are steadily recovering, overall end-use demand is mediocre. Market transactions mainly rely on long-term contract orders as a base, with sporadic rigid demand purchased and replenished as needed, and no significant incremental demand yet. At the same time, overall inventory reserves upstream and downstream are relatively ample, and end-users continue to maintain low inventory levels and a cautious stockpiling strategy, with no centralized restocking behavior, further limiting the room for price fluctuations. The overall market trading atmosphere is rational and mediocre.

Cost side, core raw material prices such as sulphuric acid remain high and firm, providing solid bottom support for the manganese sulphate market, while the deep downside room for market conditions is limited. The overall market shows a stable consolidation pattern of "bottom supported but lacking upward momentum."

[ADC12 Price Daily Review: Aluminum Alloy Futures Weakened, Spot ADC12 Held Steady Amid Wait-and-See Sentiment] Today, ADC12 market quotes generally continued to hold steady, with the industry showing little willingness to adjust prices. Looking at the driving factors, while the cost side provided a certain floor for prices, end-use demand was lackluster. Downstream procurement pace slowed down, and a slight pullback in aluminum prices fueled a stronger wait-and-see sentiment, jointly curbing the upside room for prices.

[SMM EMM Weekly Review: Tug-of-War Between Longs and Shorts in Stalemate, Market Consolidates in a Narrow Range] This week, China's EMM market experienced a tug-of-war between longs and shorts. The earlier slight pullback trend slowed down, the overall market temporarily held steady, and trading was cautious. Cost side, prices of manganese ore, sulphuric acid, and other core raw materials remained firm. Combined with continued phased production cuts at smelters and strong price-holding intent from leading smelters, this provided strong support to the market bottom, limiting the downside room for prices......

Chrome Shines as One of Two Commodities with Positive Growth in May's Mining Output - South Africa
[SMM Express] South Africa's mining production remained under pressure in May 2026 as weaker performances across key bulk commodities weighed on total output. Against this backdrop, chrome stood out as one of only two major commodities to record positive year-on-year production growth, highlighting its continued resilience amid a broader industry slowdown. Key reads from the disclosures: (i) Relative outperformance: Chrome was among only two commodities to post positive production growth in May, outperforming most of South Africa's mining sector. (ii) Structural demand support: Continued demand from China's stainless steel industry and ferrochrome sector remains supportive of chrome production. (iii) Industry resilience: Chrome producers have continued to expand output despite weaker mining conditions affecting several other commodities. (iv) Strategic importance: Chrome's stronger production performance further reinforces its role as one of South Africa's most resilient mining commodities and an increasingly important contributor to export earnings. Watchlist. Although chrome continues to outperform the broader mining sector, production momentum will depend on sustained Chinese demand, logistics efficiency across rail and ports, reliable power supply, and the pace of new UG2 chrome recovery capacity additions. Continued weakness in South Africa's overall mining industry could also weigh indirectly on future investment and operational activity.
