[SMM Iron & Steel] India’s Steel Sector Growth Hits 9.9% in January

Official government data released on February 20, 2026, shows that India’s steel production rose by 9.9% year-on-year in January 2026. This follows a robust 6.9% growth in December, signaling continued industrial strength. The Ministry of Steel also unveiled a "Digital Roadmap" this week, aiming to support a national crude steel capacity target of 300 million tonnes by 2030 through AI-led modernization and predictive analytics.
