In the export market, the number of countries and regions covered by China's copper wire and cable exports increased to 205 in December 2025, marking growth for two consecutive months. Among the export destinations, Australia continued to hold the top position, while the Philippines and the US ranked second and third, respectively. Exports to these three countries reached 1.17kt, 0.74kt, and 0.7kt for the month. Notably, the Philippines' ranking surged significantly from ninth to second, primarily driven by rigid demand from domestic infrastructure and manufacturing expansion, coupled with the effects of concentrated year-end order deliveries and stockpiling.

From the perspective of export provinces, China's copper wire and cable exports in December 2025 covered all 31 provinces, achieving new coverage in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The agglomeration effect of leading provinces continued to strengthen, with Jiangsu Province ranking first in exports (2.94 kt), followed by Guangdong Province (2.1 kt) and Zhejiang Province (1.94 kt). The combined share of these three provinces in the national total increased compared to the previous period, and the regional structure remained largely stable.

Looking ahead to January, although short-term concentrated delivery demand from countries such as the Philippines was largely cleared in December, logistics uncertainties due to the approaching Chinese New Year are expected to prompt enterprises to accelerate the pace of releasing orders on hand in January. Supported by this "pre-holiday rush shipping" effect, China's copper wire and cable exports are expected to maintain mild growth.

Robust Backlog Orders Sustain High Operating Rates for Copper Plate/Sheet and Strip Enterprises
According to SMM, copper prices surged this week, significantly suppressing new order intake in the copper plate/sheet and strip industry. However, thanks to ample backlog orders accumulated in the earlier period, industry production demonstrated strong resilience. Demand orders from core downstream sectors such as power, new energy, and electronics remained generally stable, supporting full production schedules for most enterprises. As a result, the industry's operating rate continued to fluctuate at highs.

Copper Enamelled Wire Industry Operating Rate Rebound Falls Short of Expectations
The operating rate of the enamelled wire industry rebounded WoW this week, but the recovery was weaker than expectations. As holiday disruptions faded, machine operating rates rebounded WoW. However, surging copper prices suppressed downstream ordering, dragging on the overall recovery pace, with new orders rising only marginally.
