[Bejaia Zinc-Lead Mine to Commence Production as Scheduled] Foreign media reported on November 26 that the National Mining Group of Algeria (SONAREM) held a coordination meeting, emphasizing that the Bejaia zinc-lead mine project must commence production as planned. The project holds significant economic and social value, with an expected annual output of 170,000 mt of zinc concentrates and 30,000 mt of lead concentrates, which will drive local employment, skills training, and the development of the mining processing industry chain. The meeting called for enhanced coordination among departments such as land, regulations, and finance to expedite relevant procedures and efficiently complete site clearance and road access formalities. Land acquisition compensation work has entered its final stage, all technical assessments have been completed, and legal procedures are expected to be finalized soon. SONAREM reiterated its commitment to strictly adhering to the timetable to advance the project, making it a model project in the national mining sector.
