Imports:

In October 2025, China's refined nickel imports totaled 9,741 mt, down 66% MoM and 6% YoY. Among these, other unwrought non-alloy nickel imports accounted for 6,708 mt, representing 69% of total refined nickel imports.
By country, the main sources of imports in October were Indonesia, Norway, Japan, and Russia. Imports from Indonesia increased to 3,660 mt, up 18% MoM, while imports from Russia fell sharply to 1,044 mt, down 95% MoM.

Exports:

In October 2025, China's refined nickel exports reached 13,667 mt, down 3% MoM but up 55% YoY. Other unwrought non-alloy nickel exports accounted for 13,430 mt, making up 98% of total refined nickel exports.
By region, the main domestic export sources in October were Guangdong (38%), Guangxi (29%), and Shanghai.

Customs Clearance Volume:

In October 2025, the net clearance volume of refined nickel was -2,585 mt, down 118% MoM from the previous month. This was mainly due to a sharp decline in imports, with exports exceeding imports during the month, leading to significant oversupply pressure in the domestic market and prompting enterprises to actively seek overseas markets through exports.

[SMM Nickel Flash News] Weekly Weather Outlook (July 15–21)
Weather conditions across the major nickel-producing regions are expected to remain generally manageable next week. Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi (Kolaka/Konawe), and Halmahera are forecast to experience frequent light to moderate showers with occasional thunderstorms, with rainfall expected to be intermittent and unlikely to cause prolonged disruptions. Zambales is likely to see the wettest conditions, with more persistent rainfall throughout the week, posing a relatively higher risk of localized impacts on mining and logistics. In contrast, Surigao is expected to remain comparatively drier, with only isolated showers. Overall, while intermittent rainfall may lead to localized operational delays, no widespread weather event is currently expected to significantly disrupt regional mining or shipping activities.

[SMM Nickel Flash] July 14 news: SMM's high-grade NPI market sentiment factor stood at 1.98, down 0.02 MoM; the upstream sentiment factor for high-grade NPI was 2.1, down 0.07 MoM; and the downstream sentiment factor for high-grade NPI was 1.86, up 0.03 MoM. Today, the high-grade NPI spot market continued to see bull-bear divergence. The supply side experienced some localized slight price increases, but the demand for low-price purchasing from downstream persisted, making it difficult to narrow the price spread between upstream and downstream.
