[Intel Reportedly Becoming Backup Chip Manufacturer for Google and Nvidia]

According to The Information, TSMC's (TSM.N) capacity constraints are proving to be a boon for Intel (INTC.O). As the chip manufacturing giant grapples with massive demand for its chip production capacity, several major AI chip design firms, including Google (GOOG.O) and Nvidia (NVDA.O), are quietly turning to Intel as an alternative manufacturer. Nvidia is said to be evaluating Intel's advanced packaging and 18A process for future chips. In addition, the report states that Google recently placed an order with Intel to produce more than 3 million TPUs by 2028. On the news, Intel's (INTC.O) stock surged over 10% in pre-market trading.

Shenzhen Huaqiang announced in an investor relations activity record that the company's electronic components long-tail spot business saw its Q1 2026 revenue increase significantly YoY, with growth exceeding 300%. This year, the electronic components long-tail spot market sentiment recovered, and numerous components, including memory, power management chips, analog chips, and MLCCs, experienced shortages and price increases. Taking MLCCs as an example, the company's electronic components long-tail spot business received markedly increased inquiry demand for high-end MLCCs. The company is a major global authorized distributor for Murata. Recently, the company observed an increase in client orders, with procurement starting and inventory being actively restocked. For some models in shortage, the company prioritized meeting the procurement needs of major clients.

Early in the session, it quickly rose to a high of $3,547.5/mt before bulls reduced positions, sending LME zinc sharply lower to a low of $3,513/mt during European trading. Afterwards, with bulls and bears locked in a tug-of-war, LME zinc fluctuated and eventually closed lower at $3,534.5/mt, down $6/mt, or 0.17%. Trading volume fell to 9,816 lots, and open interest decreased by 151 lots to 234,000 lots.
