[SMM Steel] US weekly raw steel output rises 1.3% w-o-w in early May

[SMM Steel] According to AISI data, US raw steel production reached 1.88 million net tons in the week ending May 9, 2026, up 1.3% from the previous week and 9.3% higher year on year. Capacity utilization improved to 81.4%. Year-to-date raw steel output totaled 33.29 million net tons through May 9, up 6.3% YoY, with average capacity utilization rising to 78.1% from 76.2% a year earlier.

[SMM Steel] US sets preliminary 8.45% dumping margin on Mexican rebar producer Deacero Group

[SMM Steel] The US Department of Commerce (USDOC) preliminarily determined that Mexico’s Deacero Group sold rebar in the US below fair market value during the review period from Nov. 1, 2023 to Oct. 31, 2024. USDOC assigned the group a weighted-average dumping margin of 8.45%. Reviews for Grupo Acerero, Grupo Simec, and Sidertul were canceled after customs data showed no shipments during the review period. Final results are expected within 120 days.
