[SMM Iron & Steel] Brazil’s Auto Production Falls 9.5% in April 2026 but Maintains Yearly Growth
Brazil’s vehicle production reached 206,700 units in April 2026, marking a 9.5% decline from the 228,400 units produced in March, though it remained 13.1% higher compared to April 2025. Cumulative production for the first four months of 2026 totaled 745,400 units, a 6.3% increase year-on-year. The monthly contraction was primarily attributed to a lower number of working days in April. Despite the short-term dip, the overall upward trend in the automotive sector continues to support steady domestic demand for flat steel products, although the monthly volatility suggests a temporary cooling in the procurement pace of automotive-grade sheets.
