South32 and Eskom Advance Renewable Energy Plan for Hillside Aluminium Smelter

[SMM Aluminum Express News] South32 and Eskom are advancing a renewable energy plan for the Hillside aluminium smelter in KwaZulu-Natal, as the current power contract expires in 2031. The 720,000 tpy smelter, the largest in the southern hemisphere will be supported by a joint initiative to integrate competitively priced renewable energy into the grid, aiming to secure a long-term, low-carbon power solution.
