Nickel Prices and Stainless Steel Futures Rise as HPM Policy Ferments, Boosting High-Grade NPI Acceptance

[SMM Nickel News] April 17, supply side, the HPM new policy continued to ferment, nickel prices rose again, while stainless steel futures also increased notably, with upstream quotes generally raised. Demand side, although current demand was not urgent, with prices rising consistently across the supply chain, downstream acceptance of high-grade NPI prices improved. Overall, futures and stainless steel spot prices rose, and the price center of high-grade NPI continued to shift upward.

High-Grade NPI Prices Rise in China and Indonesia, Market Shows Recovery Trend

[SMM Nickel Flash] The average price of SMM 10-12% high-grade NPI rose 5.15 yuan/nickel unit WoW to 1,085.4 yuan/nickel unit (ex-factory, tax included), while the average Indonesian NPI FOB index price rose 1.5 $/nickel unit WoW to 138.51 $/nickel unit. The high-grade NPI market exhibited a "dip-then-rally" trend this week. Prices edged down at the beginning of the week due to weak end-use demand, but subsequently, driven by multiple favorable factors, market activity picked up notably and the price center shifted gradually upward.
