China's Power Grid Construction Booms in 2026, Driving Over 250 Billion Yuan in Upstream and Downstream Investments

In the beginning of 2026, a new round of power grid construction boom surged in China. Its China Electric Power Network completed fixed asset investment of more than 129 billion yuan in the first quarter, an increase of 37% year on year, driving investment of more than 250 billion yuan in the upstream and downstream industries; The investment of Southern Power Grid and Inner Mongolia Electric Power Group also maintained rapid growth, reaching 38.45 billion yuan and more than 4 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 49.5% and 16% respectively. The accelerated investment in the power grid promotes the synchronous resonance between the construction of the power grid and the regional economic development.

The project covers a total land area of 79,000 m², with a building area of approximately 49,000 m². Plant No. 1 was completed in February and entered trial production. The main structure of Plant No. 2 is expected to be completed by month-end of May, with equipment installation set to begin in August. Upon completion, the project plans to add 1 cast iron line, 3 aluminum die-casting lines, and 1 compressor recycling and disassembly line to further expand capacity.

[SMM Express] According to reports, on May 18, Ningbo Haiwei Auto Parts Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Fujian Wuping NEV lightweight product manufacturing project. The project is a key new energy industry project introduced by Wuping County, Fujian, with a planned land area of 146 mu, including 50 mu for Phase I and 96 mu for Phase II. It is expected to build a modern industrial park integrating R&D, production, and supporting facilities. Upon completion and commissioning, the project is expected to form an annual capacity of 330,000 NEV auto body and chassis lightweight core parts.
