[China's Total Retail Sales of Consumer Goods Surpassed 50 Trillion Yuan for the First Time in 2025]

The State Council Information Office held a press conference today (January 26) on the performance of commercial work in 2025. The conference highlighted that, driven by both policies and events, the "Shop in China" brand was promoted to continuously unleash consumption vitality. The total retail sales of consumer goods for the full year exceeded 50 trillion yuan for the first time, reaching 50.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.7%. The contribution of consumption to economic growth reached 52%, up by 5 percentage points.

【SMM Steel】Turkey imported 6.59 million tonnes of steel scrap in January-April 2026, up 0.4% year-on-year, with total import value reaching approximately $2.5 billion. The United States overtook the Netherlands as Turkey's largest supplier, with shipments rising 34% to about 1.4 million tonnes. By contrast, imports from the Netherlands fell 26.6% to just over 861,000 tonnes, though the Netherlands and the United Kingdom remained among Turkey's key suppliers.
