Kazakhstan Bans Export of Non-ferrous Metal Billets and Ingots by 2025

[SMM Flash News] According to Kazakh media reports, recently, under the chairmanship of Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations held a meeting.

Meanwhile, the Interdepartmental Commission also supported the implementation of a ban: before December 31, 2025, the export of non-ferrous metal billets and ingots from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan by any means of transport is prohibited. This ban applies to unprocessed copper, aluminum slabs, aluminum cast billets, and lead ingots. According to customs data, China's imports of refined lead and crude lead from Kazakhstan in 2024 were 34,900 mt.
