On Monday local time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the United States is focusing primarily on reciprocal tariffs and will leave sector-specific tariff issues for later. According to market sources, this could mean that the outcome of the Section 232 investigation and the implementation of any concrete measures will be delayed.
The intraday spread between the COMEX front-month contract and the LME three-month contract has widened past USD 1,400 per tonne. With U.S. copper on the rise, London copper in the Asian session was up over 1% intraday, charging toward USD 10,000 per tonne.
