IWIP Reaffirms Commitment to Occupational Health and Safety for World Safety Day 2025

Published: May 5, 2025 23:09
PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) reaffirmed its strong commitment to occupational health and safety (OHS) as a core foundation of operational continuity and employee well-being, viewing it not merely as regulatory compliance but as a shared responsibility across all levels. In commemoration of World Safety Day 2025, General Manager of HSE, Iwan Kurniawan, emphasized the importance of prioritizing OHS and mining safety in all activities, both during construction and operations, through systematic efforts and the active participation of management, supervisors, and all employees. IWIP aims to foster a culture of safety by strengthening inter-unit coordination, promoting self-reliant OHS practices, and minimizing hazards and risks to prevent serious injuries and fatalities. Their commitment was reflected in a series of proactive, engaging, and educational events held throughout April, culminating on April 28, involving not just IWIP staff but also workers from partner companies and tenants. This inclusive, month-long initiative underscored IWIP’s belief that a safe and healthy workplace is a collective endeavor and a key driver of sustainable industrial development.

[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] According to CREA, Stainless Steel Still Leads Indonesia's Nickel Demand
According to CREA report, stainless steel remains the dominant end-use for Indonesia's nickel despite ongoing "green nickel" marketing efforts. In 2025, 83% of nickel output will go to stainless steel versus 17% for EV batteries; by 2030, stainless steel is still projected to account for 51% of supply against 18% for batteries. Demand from the battery sector faces uncertainty as more EVs shift to nickel-free technologies. Indonesia, which produces over half of global refined nickel, faces mounting pressure from stricter environmental regulations and carbon taxes over its coal-powered production, along with broader supply chain risks. Separately, BMI (a Fitch Solutions company) raised its 2026 nickel price forecast to US$16,600/ton, citing policy uncertainty and rising supply risks.
