According to SMM's import ore cost-profit statement, import ore profits remained largely unchanged; as of August 9, the total inventory of 35 ports tracked by SMM amounted to 146.68 million tons, down 610,000 tons from the previous month and up 30.32 million tons year-on-year. Port inventories have decreased for two consecutive weeks, primarily due to the recent decline in unloading efficiency at ports, leading to a significant reduction in arrivals. Currently, port inventories are still at a relatively high level, exerting downward pressure on ore prices. Furthermore, considering the potential significant decline in pig iron production next week, the short-term fundamentals of iron ore remain weak, making it difficult for ore prices to experience an upward drive. It is expected that import ore profits may decline slightly.
