Honda China Office announced the optimization of production capacity in China and accelerated the transition to electrification.

A joint venture factory with Dongfeng Motor Group will commence production in September, while another joint venture factory with Guangzhou Automobile Group will start production in November, both with an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles.

The construction of these factories began in 2022, with each factory designed to produce 120,000 vehicles annually.

Guangzhou Honda's annual production line for 50,000 gasoline-powered vehicles will be shut down in October, and Dongfeng Honda's annual production line for 240,000 vehicles will be closed in November, reducing China's annual gasoline vehicle production capacity to 1.2 million vehicles.

Honda's annual sales in China have declined from 1.6 million units in 2020 to 1.2 million units in 2023.

Production of Acura vehicles in China ceased at the end of 2022 due to low market demand.

Deliveries in the first half of this year fell by 22% to below 416,000 units.
