[SMM Steel Shipping] Last week, China's total export volume was up 4% WoW

I. Domestic Steel Shipping

1. Shipment Data

Last week (2024.7.13-2024.7.19)

SMM reported that the total steel shipments from national ports were 6.2823 million mt, down 1.3294 million mt WoW, a decrease of 17%. Among them, the total shipments from the six major northern ports (Jingtang Port, Caofeidian Port, Bayuquan Port, Tianjin New Port, Huanghua Port, Jinzhou Port) were 2.0441 million mt, down 427,700 mt WoW, accounting for 33% of the total shipments. The total shipments from the three major east China ports (Shanghai Port, Zhangjiagang Port, Lanbei Port) were 453,600 mt, down 3,380 mt WoW, accounting for 7% of the total shipments. The total shipments from the two major south China ports (Zhanjiang Port, Fangchenggang Port) were 366,700 mt, down 193,700 mt WoW, accounting for 6% of the total shipments.

2. Port Arrivals Data

Last week (2024.7.13-2024.7.19)

The total port arrivals of SMM China steel were 5.9892 million mt, down 1.2316 million mt WoW, a decrease of 17%. Among them, the total port arrivals at 13 main ports in east China were 3.7152 million mt, down 780,700 mt, accounting for 62% of the total port arrivals. The total port arrivals at Guangzhou Port in south China were 209,000 mt, down 47,800 mt, accounting for 3% of the total port arrivals.

II. Steel Foreign Trade Shipping

1. Shipment Data

Last week (2024.7.13-2024.7.19)

Global (excluding China) port steel shipments were 1.9986 million mt, up 4% WoW. Chinese port shipments were 2.3341 million mt, up 4%.

By product type,

Last week, global port steel plate shipments were 117,200 mt, up 32% WoW. Global port steel coil shipments were 524,700 mt, up 123%. Global port pig iron shipments were 520,600 mt, down 32%. Global port steel billet shipments were 282,200 mt, down 12%.

2. Port Arrivals Data

Last week (2024.7.13-2024.7.19)

The total port arrivals of steel at 119 Chinese ports were 43.87 mt, up 216,600 mt WoW, an increase of 98%.
