Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 16-17, Chinese legacy automaker FAW Group hosted a series of significant events at its headquarters in Changchun, Jilin province, including multiple strategic partnership signings and the launch of its new Beidou Cloud workbench product. These events mark a crucial step in FAW's digital transformation and its push towards innovation in the new energy vehicle sector.

On July 16, a conference on the modern industrial chain for new energy intelligent vehicles was held at FAW's headquarters. During this event, FAW Group signed two major agreements.

The first was a strategic cooperation agreement with ZTE Corporation for the "Hongqi No. 1" multi-domain fusion chip. This partnership aims to leverage both parties' expertise in automotive, chip definition, chip R&D, and communication technologies to drive innovation in the automotive chip industry.

The agreement marks a new phase of collaboration, focusing on core automotive chip technologies and setting a new paradigm for industry integration. This collaboration is expected to provide significant opportunities for the development of new energy intelligent vehicles.

The second agreement was the "AI+ Action" strategic cooperation agreement with China Mobile.

This partnership will enhance cooperation in various fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), vehicle-road-cloud integration, vehicle’s intelligent connectivity, overseas business, digital services, as well as car and mobility services.

FAW Group and China Mobile aim to jointly accelerate the electrification, intelligence, and globalization of China’s automotive industry, contributing to the development of Chinese automotive brands. By combining FAW's automotive expertise with China Mobile's technological prowess, the partnership seeks to foster innovations in AI and computing power network areas.

Following the conference, the Changchun High-Quality Automotive Industry Development and Vehicle-Road-Cloud Integration Launch Conference was held at FAW Group’s headquarters.

At the conference, FAW Group, the Changchun municipal government, China Mobile, and the National Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (CVIC) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement for vehicle-road-cloud integration.

This agreement will deepen cooperation in cloud control platform construction, road-cloud network infrastructure, and joint operations, promoting the integration of automotive, information communication technology, smart city, and intelligent transportation.

Recently, Changchun has been selected as one of the first cities to pilot the "vehicle-road-cloud integration" application in China, and this agreement signifies the start of a strategic partnership that aims to drive large-scale demonstrations and new business models for intelligent connected vehicles in the city.

Moreover, on July 17, FAW Group held another event to launch the FAW Beidou Cloud workbench. This workbench represents the latest achievement in the automaker’s digital transformation, ensuring full autonomy and control, covering the entire value chain and all business domains within the company.

The workbench integrates AI large model and high-quality data to enhance digital operations capabilities, significantly optimizing management efficiency and reducing development cycles. It spans seven business domains, including R&D, product development, production, marketing, human resources, finance, and management control. Compared to competing software packages, the Beidou Cloud workbench better meets the localization requirements of the industry and addresses the comprehensive needs of traditional enterprises undergoing digital transformation.

The Beidou Cloud workbench can significantly enhance management efficiency by enabling online operations for 23,000 business units, optimizing 1,700 job positions, and improving product development efficiency by 30%. It also reduces R&D cycles by six months, shortens vehicle production cycles by six months, cuts order delivery times by 25%, and increases the marketing cost-efficiency ratio by 30%, said FAW Group.

FAW Group's Chairman and Party Secretary Qiu Xiandong emphasized that since 2021, digital transformation has been a core strategic initiative for FAW. The company has restructured its business model and developed the FAW cloud-native technology platform and products. Moving forward, FAW Group will continue to advance the iteration of the Beidou Cloud workbench, setting a new benchmark for digital transformation in the manufacturing industry. Mr. Qiu highlighted the importance of adopting a value-driven, intelligence-oriented, and ecosystem-based approach to sustain the company's digital evolution.
