Currently, the cost of producing stainless steel from stainless steel scrap is around 14,193.84 yuan/mt, while producing it from high-grade NPI costs about 13,731.33 yuan/mt. Due to the decline in stainless steel finished product prices, stainless steel raw material prices are weak. Stainless steel scrap and high-grade NPI prices also decreased. Although stainless steel scrap inquiry prices remain stable, prices for 304 and 201 series have been lowered multiple times. For high-grade NPI, RKAB impacts are fading, and prices are returning to fundamentals. However, despite this, as domestic NPI plants still face losses, the future downside space of its prices will be limited. Stainless steel scrap and high-grade NPI costs fell by 292 yuan/mt and 22 yuan/mt respectively. Despite this, high-grade NPI retains its cost efficiency. March is expected to see a rise in stainless steel production. Supported by downstream demand, raw material prices will stabilize.
