SHANGHAI, May 11 (SMM) - The average capacity utilisation rate of domestic mines increased 1.6% month-on-month to 54.4% in April 2023, and the output of iron ore concentrate stood at 20.066 million mt. Main reasons for the increase in capacity utilisation: 1) The raw ore supply increased amid the easing control on the use of explosives. 2) Mines that were subject to environmental protection rectification and safety production inspections in the early stage gradually either resumed or increased production. 3) Some mines resumed production after technological upgrading, which also led to an increase in capacity utilisation.
It is expected that the capacity utilisation rate of most mines will further recover in May given the improving profits and easing environmental protection and safety control.
