SHANGHAI, Mar 28 S(MM) - According to the customs data, China imported 27,381.8 mt of rare earth in January and February 2023, up 62.8% from 16,816.7 mt in 2022.
On March 24, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Natural Resources issued a notice on the mining, smelting and separation quotas of the first batch of rare earth in 2023. The mining quota is 120,000 mt, an increase of about 19% year-on-year, including 109,057 mt of rock ore-type rare earth, an increase of 22% year-on-year, and 10,943 mt of ion-type rare earth, a decrease of 5% year-on-year.
