In order to ensure the supply and stabilize the price of lithium resource products and promote the healthy development of new energy vehicles and power battery industry, the Department of Raw material Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the first Department of equipment Industry, together with the Price Department of the Development and Reform Commission, the General Administration of Market Supervision and Inspection and the Bureau of Anti-unfair Competition, organized a symposium on the operation of the lithium industry and the price increase of upstream materials for power batteries on March 16 and March 17. China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, China Automobile Industry Association, China Automobile Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance and other industry organizations, as well as lithium resources development, lithium salt production, cathode materials, power batteries and other key enterprises upstream and downstream of the industry chain attended the meeting.

The meeting listened to the production, production and sales of key enterprises, analyzed the current bottlenecks in resource development and production supply, and in view of the recent sharp rise in the prices of lithium resources and lithium salt products, full exchanges were conducted around the market price formation mechanism of lithium salt products, production and consumption, the impact of the power battery industry, and policies and measures for ensuring supply and stabilizing prices.

The meeting demanded that enterprises in the upper and lower reaches of the industrial chain strengthen the docking of supply and demand, work together to form a long-term and stable strategic cooperative relationship, jointly guide the rational return of lithium salt prices, and step up efforts to ensure market supply, so as to better support the healthy development of China's new energy vehicles and other strategic emerging industries.

[Solid-State Battery Rumor Refuted: CATARC's Wang Fang Says No Compliance Determination Was Made on Solid-State Battery Enterprises] On September 4, 2026, Wang Fang, Chief Scientist at the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), clarified recent rumors at the "2026 World Power Battery Conference": CATARC has not conducted any determination on solid-state battery enterprises, and the related rumors are "false information." Recently, there were market reports claiming that CATARC, based on the national standard GB/T 43568-2026 "Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles – Part 1: Terminology and Classification," which took effect in July this year, conducted determinations on more than 320 enterprises involved in solid-state batteries, with only 9 ultimately passing all compliance items in full.

[Solid-state: ProLogium starts mass production of Gen 3.5 all-solid-state cells at 381 Wh/kg]
ProLogium announced on Sept 2 that its third-generation Gen 3.5 lithium ceramic battery has entered mass production at its gigawatt-scale plant in Taiwan, China, moving high-energy-density all-solid-state technology from pilot stage to scaled output. TÜV tests show its 185.4Ah large cell reaches 381 Wh/kg and 903 Wh/L, and UL Solutions testing under Chinese standard GB/T 43568-2026 confirms its all-solid-state classification. ProLogium has shipped over 2.4 million cells since 2013 and won 175+ repeat orders in automotive use; its next-gen Gen 4 battery requires only about 10% retrofit of existing lines, targeting AI data centers, EVs, maritime and aerospace.
