China Color International Trade Independent Logistics opens up a New way to return Copper products

Published: Mar 1, 2022 10:21

Since 2021, affected by the epidemic situation of novel coronavirus and other factors, the global shortage of maritime containers and the extension of ship port time have continued to be serious. In order to solve the problem of "sticking neck" in shipping, China Nonferrous Group funded enterprise China Color International Trading Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Color International Trade), giving full play to the "upper-hand move" role of independent logistics, opened a new way for bulk carriers to return copper products, and ensured the stability and safety of the group's rights and interests product marketing channels.

In order to ensure the safe return of African copper products, Cosco Shanghai Co., Ltd., which belongs to COSCO International Trade, has discussed with COSCO Haite Shipping Company for many times. it was decided to adopt the transport mode of "bulk carrier" after deducing repeatedly the loading plan of ship space, the loading efficiency of South African port area, the ship hit by wind and waves at sea and the unloading efficiency of domestic terminals.

In view of the difficulty that the Chinese captain and staff were unable to go down to the cabin for guidance caused by the epidemic, independent logistics staff used manual drawing, voice phone and other methods to guide African workers, and coordinated the crew to inspect and strengthen the lower cabin for the second time after sailing, thus reducing the risk of cargo damage. In view of the difficulty of picking up and sorting due to the mixed loading of copper products of different numbers on bulk carriers, independent logistics staff use the method of "coloring" to apply red, black and white paint on the "ears" of each anode plate. it is convenient to distinguish different batches and numbered copper products and make detailed lists according to different colors.

On December 20, 2021, with the joint efforts of China Color Shanghai, Newbridge, South African and Zambian companies, the COSCO "Mudansong" bulk carrier loaded with 2500 tons of copper products officially set sail in the port of Durban, South Africa. On the afternoon of January 21, 2022, the bulk carrier "Mudansong" berthed smoothly at Shanghai Longwu Wharf.

Next, the independent logistics system of China Color International Trade will further promote the construction of specialization, standardization and internationalization, and make greater contributions to the return of rights and interests products and the security of the supply chain.

Chile's Water Crisis Threatens Atacama's Copper and Lithium Mining Amid 14-Year Drought
Chile’s most pressing crisis at present is the issue of water resources. The Atacama Desert in Chile is one of the driest regions in the world and also the core area for copper and lithium ore extraction. The local area has experienced a drought for as long as 14 years, and reservoir storage has fallen to only about 30%. For miners, water resources are not a secondary issue, but an indispensable key production factor in such processes as ore processing, dust suppression, and equipment cooling. The decline in ore grade has further exacerbated the predicament

Trump Adjusts Metal Tariffs, Applies 50% Rate to Consumer Prices Under Section 232, Details Unclear
US President Trump adjusted the national security tariffs on imports of steel, aluminum, and copper, lowering the tariff rates on derivative products made from these metals, streamlining compliance procedures, and preventing the declared value of imports from being understated.A senior Trump administration official said that, under a proclamation signed by Trump, the US would continue to maintain a 50% import tariff on imports of metal commodities such as steel, aluminum, and copper pursuant to Section 232 of the Trade Act of 1974, but would apply this rate to the price paid by US consumers. It is currently unclear how the selling price—and the resulting tariffs—would be determined.
