Industrial Technology Research Institute: Output of Semiconductors in Taiwan, China reached 4.08 trillion TWD in 2021

The output of IC design industry exceeded 1 trillion TWD, reaching 1.21 trillion TWD, increased by 42.4%.

SHANGHAI, Feb 17 (SMM) - Statistics from the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan, China, showed that, in 2021, the annual output of the semiconductor industry in Taiwan Province, China, exceeded 4 trillion TWD for the first time, reaching 4.08 trillion TWD, an annual increase of 26.7%. According to Taiwan media, the output of IC design industry exceeded 1 trillion TWD, reaching 1.21 trillion TWD, increased by 42.4%. The output of IC manufacturing soared by 22.4% to 2.22 trillion TWD. The output of the IC packaging industry increased by 15.3% to 435.4 billion TWD. The output of IC testing industry increased by 18.4% to 203 billion. The Industrial Technology Research Institute predicts that the demand for 5G and commercial notebook computers will be strong, and the global output of semiconductors are expected to continue to grow by 8.8% this year.

Some lower offers emerged, but transactions remained light while supply-demand fundamentals stayed solid. According to SMM data, APT CIF Rotterdam is quoted at $2,900-3,200/mtu, averaging $3,050/mtu, down $135 from last week. Ferrotungsten Rotterdam warehouse is at $290-310/kg W, down $20 from last week. European scrap carbide blades are at €105-115/kg, averaging €110/kg, down €5 from last week.
