As a result, unexpectedly, the production capacity of lithium iron phosphate enterprises began to expand rapidly in the second half of the year, the new production line was tens of thousands of tons, and the demand for lithium carbonate surged even more. Some enterprises directly swept goods at high prices in order to ensure the smooth release of production capacity.

And the rest of the enterprises looked, good guy, such a war, so have also joined the army of stock preparation.

Now, the price of lithium carbonate has completely taken off.

Of course, some material companies have expressed their dissatisfaction with the rapid rise in lithium prices.

In fact, in essence, the soaring price of lithium carbonate in this round is still due to the excessive volume of terminal demand and the different speed of production expansion in the upstream and downstream, which is caused by the mismatch between supply and demand.

Large-scale expansion of lithium iron phosphate

In this year's market, lithium iron phosphate undoubtedly occupies the C position in the battery material.

After the progress of battery technology and the decline of new energy policy subsidies, lithium iron phosphate is generally expected to be used in the future. Therefore, after the volume of terminal demand, the problem of insufficient production capacity of lithium iron phosphate materials has been exposed.

As a result, lithium iron phosphate enterprises, big or small, have opened a crazy mode of production expansion.

But the crux of the problem is that it is not just iron and lithium enterprises that are expanding production this time. .

Under the condition that lithium iron phosphate is expected to continue to improve, titanium dioxide enterprises and phosphorus chemical enterprises in the upper reaches of lithium iron phosphate are also waiting for the opportunity to announce production expansion plans to enter the field of new energy iron-lithium materials wantonly.

As for how exaggerated the production expansion of these enterprises is, let me tell you.

According to SMM statistics, according to the current release of public information in the industry, we expect the output of lithium iron phosphate material to increase significantly to 1.43 million tons by 2025.

In September this year, with the upgrading of China's double control policy on energy consumption, many provinces such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hunan, Jilin, Liaoning and other provinces launched power rationing procedures one after another. at the same time, enterprises in many regions have also been notified by the local energy bureaus of power cut. is required to open three stop four, or even "open two stop five".

Among them, high energy consumption industries such as non-ferrous metals, chemical industry and iron and steel are the "hardest hit areas" of power restrictions.

During this period, the enterprises of lithium new energy have also been affected to a certain extent.

Among them, the precursors and cathode material enterprises in Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangsu and other places have relatively strict local power restriction policies, so the production scheduling plans of most local enterprises have also been greatly affected, with an average production reduction of more than 20%. Some enterprises choose to stop production directly.

It is worth noting that among these affected enterprises, there is no lack of ternary enterprises and industry leaders of lithium iron phosphate.

Fortunately, with the passage of time, by the end of October, most of the lithium industry chain enterprises across the country have returned to normal production.

Stop production! The threat of the epidemic!

The epidemic situation of novel coronavirus seems to have become one of the topics that people can't avoid in recent years.

In 2021, the epidemic situation of novel coronavirus in China has been gradually brought under control, but it is still facing great pressure from overseas imported cases. The repeated epidemic situation in many places throughout the country occurs from time to time, which still has a continuous impact on the life safety and daily economic activities of our country.

And this is also true for the lithium industry chain.

On December 10, there were new cases of COVID-19 in many places in China, including 45 confirmed cases in Zhejiang Province, including 2 in Hangzhou, 4 in Ningbo, 38 in Shaoxing and 1 imported from abroad.

In this case, the cities and counties under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang have also gradually strengthened prevention and control management measures, and the local lithium new energy enterprises have also been affected to a certain extent.

According to SMM research, the current Zhejiang ternary materials and precursor enterprises and two cobalt salt enterprises officially stopped production on December 10th.

The shutdown will affect the output of ternary materials, ternary precursors, cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride, 1000-1200 tons, 700 tons and 600 tons, respectively.

As the epidemic seems to have a tendency to spill over, it does not rule out the possibility that more enterprises will be affected in the future.
