[Kazakh copper and zinc production fell from January to April compared with the same period last year] Kazakhstan produced 41041 tons of refined copper in April, down slightly from 41221 tons in March, and 164200 tons in the first four months of this year, according to data released by the Kazakh Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday. 0.6 per cent lower than the same period last year.

Kazakhstan produced 41041 tonnes of refined copper in April, down slightly from 41221 tonnes in March, and 164200 tonnes in the first four months of this year, down 0.6 per cent from the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the Kazakh Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.

Refined zinc production in April was 25941 tonnes, down 5.3 per cent from 27391 tonnes in March, while production in the first four months of this year totaled 104389 tonnes, down 2.6 per cent from a year earlier.

Production of alumina and unwrought aluminium in April was 138157 tonnes, up 12.9 per cent from 122330 tonnes in March, while production in the first four months of this year totaled 516114 tonnes, down 4.2 per cent from a year earlier.

Kazzinc, owned by copper miners KAZ Minerals and Glencore (Glencore), accounts for the bulk of the country's metal production.
