SHANGHAI, May 2 (SMM) – China's import of ternary precursors in February grew 24% month on month but fell 38% on the year, according to data from China Customs. China imported about 132 mt of ternary precursors in February. Average import prices fell 3% from January as a batch of low-priced scrap was included in February's imports and this lowered overall prices. The February data is the latest information from the website of China Customs.
SMM believes that China’s imports of ternary precursors are likely to fall as domestic capacities increase and as production of high-end, customised ternary precursors accelerates in China.
China's exports in February grew 0.7% on the month and 78% on the year, with 2,571 mt of ternary precursors exported. Average export prices rose 5% from January. The five largest companies – Umicore Changxin, Henan Kelong, Hunan Zhongwei, Jingmen GEM and Hunan Brunp – accounted for 91% of overall exports.
