Silicon plants gave stable offers on Thursday, while traded prices of all grades increased in China’s market, and silicon buyers were divergent on purchases.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 20 (SMM) – Silicon plants gave stable offers on Thursday, while traded prices of all grades increased in China’s market.

Some traders, which finished delivering July’s orders, purchased goods for August’s orders ahead of schedule in anticipation of higher price.

Some downstream producers, buying goods based on market condition, built stocks gradually with rising prices, while others were wary of silicon purchases, facing sluggish sales and operating rate in August.

In other news, Nanjing Steel Group has decided price to factory of Si-Mg alloy at 7,260 yuan per tonne by acceptance in July, with a total of 10,000 tonnes, which was 570 yuan per tonne higher than bidding price.

News release: April 20, 2026 According to China Customs data, China’s total imports of high-carbon ferrochrome reached 136,600 tons in March 2026, a slight month-on-month increase of 0.76% and a year-on-year drop of 52.56%.
