TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 gained to $191 a ton during the week ended June 10, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.
According to TSI, index for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 increased by $3 a ton to $191 a ton CFR Taiwanese port during the week. Import activity has been quiet and few transactions were concluded, as prices began to edge upward. Some suppliers tried their luck by offering above the $200 a ton mark, however mills were not interested and no counter bids were made.
The Taiwanese domestic market for finished long products remains sluggish as mills were not in a hurry to purchase. This was due to inventories still being healthy as a result of scrap cargoes from earlier bookings starting to arrive.
